Marnie szeles
Registered Nurse

I originally Graduated with a Diploma of Applied Science, Nursing in  Melbourne . As a Graduate RN I was then fortunate to travel to Far North QLD and obtain a job at Cairns Base Hospital. Here I learnt a vast number of Nursing skills along with Traditional Cultural skills & Values whilst providing care  to a large Aboriginal &  Torres Strait Island population. I thoroughly enjoyed this time working with the infants, parents and Elders.  My love of infants and children helped me gain an Associate Charge Nurse position on the Paediatric Ward during my 10 year stay in QLD .

Sydney then became my focus in order to complete my Bachelor of Applied Science –

Major in Neonates. As I studied I worked at Sydney Childrens ‘ Hospital in Randwick as a Clinical Nurse Specialist .

Upon completing another 10 years loving my work with sick Neonates, Infants & Children I ventured into the Community & established 4 “Mother, Baby Drop in Clinics” within the Sutherland Shire .

This offered mums with new babies or infants free Baby Health Checks, advice and support as often as they required.

It was here I sensed the need for Supporting Sleep challenged parents and infants in their own homes and thus went about gaining more knowledge.

I continue to assist families with obtaining optimum sleep whilst working within a very family focus General Practice – Shire Doctors & Dentists.

In my down time I enjoy walking, great friendships and home decorating !

Kirsten
Registered Nurse

Since graduating from the University of Wollongong in 2020, I have gained experience in a variety of specialty nursing areas throughout my time working at Sutherland Hospital.

During my New Graduate year I acquired experience working within the Respiratory ward during COVID, Gastroenterology ward and the Surgical wards. On the completion of my new graduate year I transitioned to the Emergency Department where I continued enhancing my skills whilst caring for patients within both adult and paediatric areas of emergency care.

This has provided me with the ability to deliver patient centred, holistic care. My passions include providing emergency care where I continue to work on a casual basis, women’s health, paediatric care, and preventative health.

During my time off I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, walking my dog, going to the beach, travelling and camping.

Kait
Practice Nurse

Since graduating on a scholarship from Sydney Institute in 2010, I dived straight into acute care nursing, and found a passion for caring for people.

I started working in Cardiology at The Sutherland Hospital at the start of 2011 and spent 6 years there, before moving to the Emergency Department in 2017, where I still currently work casually.

During the last 13 years, I have cared for patients with a wide variety of health conditions, from aged care to acute on chronic cardiac issues, as well as emergency conditions in both adults and paediatrics. Over the last 6 years, I have developed a keen interest in emergency,  paediatric and women’s health nursing, as well as caring for families with newborns and young children, and helping them find their feet in parenthood.

On my days off, I enjoy spending time with my own young family at the beach, swimming, playing soccer and traveling.

Anna Flanagan
Registered Nurse

Originally born in Ireland, I moved to Australia and successfully completed my Bachelor of Nursing degree at Wollongong University. I have worked in mental health for over 10 years and completed a post graduate degree in pathology and cosmetic injectables.

Outside of work I have a passion for volunteering and I have been a volunteer with St John’s Ambulance for 9 years. In both 2021 and 2022, I was honoured to achieve Volunteer Of The Year and to have been recognised for my efforts working on the Covid front line in Australia and New Zealand. I also volunteer with ASTHA free food kitchen providing care, support, first aid and hot food to those suffering from drug and alcohol addictions on the streets of Sydney.
