What’s Happy Gas sedation?
Happy Gas sinvolves breathing in a blend of two gases through a mask which sits over your nose. This blend has a sweet smell and raises the pain threshold while giving you a feeling of relaxation.
How safe is it?
Very safe. Happy Gas sedation is very popular in dentistry. The gas can be adjusted by your dentist ensuring you are most comfortable. You will remain fully conscious throughout and can respond to questions or requests. For many this is an ideal solution as it is fast acting, taking only 3-5 minutes to start taking affect, while also being quickly eliminated from the body once the gas is turned off. Commonly eliminated within 5 minutes, meaning you are able to drive home safely.
At Shire Doctors and Dentists, we offer Happy Gas to patients who may feel nervous or anxious when undergoing a dental procedure. Your dentist will discuss with you to determine if Happy Gas sedation is appropriate for you.
