Dr Maz Gorjipour
Medical Director

After graduating from UTMS in 2001, I have been practicing medicine for almost twenty years. I am currently practicing as an emergency medicine specialist in Sutherland and Liverpool hospitals. I have special interest in geriatric medicine, cardiology, trauma, and point – of – care ultrasound. Practicing as a GP and an emergency medicine specialist provided me with a great opportunity to understand the value of high-quality primary care services. My focus at Shire Doctors and Dentists is to offer a wide variety of services to address a broad range of medical and health related issues helping avoid unnecessary hospital admission where appropriate.

Dr John Rizzuto
Principal Medical Practitioner

I graduated from the University of Sydney in 1975, then followed three years of hospital residency at Concord Repatriation General, Prince of Wales, Bankstown, Westmead and Sutherland Hospitals. I managed my well respected and accredited solo family medical practice in South Hurstville for over 40 years. My medical interests include – General Internal Medicine, Paediatrics, Nutritional Medicine, Mind Dynamics, and Occupational Health.

My wife and I raised and educated our now adult children in the Sutherland Shire and we both still enjoy the outdoor activities on offer here – the beach and the bush, swimming, surfing and walking.

Dr Valerie Parish
General Physician

I’ve been practicing in the Shire for over 30 years in my busy solo clinic located around  Caringbah. I love General Practice for its variety of work and moving with my patients through all the phases of their health journey. I have special interests in family medicine, fertility planning and women’s health.

My hobbies include painting, visiting galleries and travelling. Also, love spending time with my family and grandchildren. Having lived and brought up my family in the Shire, I couldn’t think of a better place to continue to serve the communities health needs.

Dr Reinier De Villiers
General Physician

I graduated from the University of Pretoria, South Africa in 1987. I moved to Australia in 2008 and attained full Australian specialist family physician registration in 2012. I practised as a GP proceduralist until 2015 in Narrogin, WA and have extensive experience in obstetrics, anaesthetics, and emergency medicine. I moved to the Shire in 2016 and have been practising in South East Sydney as a GP since then. I enjoy all aspects of general practice and my major interests are ear, nose and throat, orthopaedics (sports medicine) and obstetrics (ante – natal, post – natal and shared care, implanon and mirena insertion and removal) When I am not attending to my patients, I am spending time with my wife and children. I have a passion for music, wine and travel.

Dr Lana Celi
General Physician

Prior to completing my medical degree in 2013, I completed a Bachelor of Health Science at the University of Wollongong. I have a certificate in Women’s Health provided by The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.

I have special interest in family medicine and Women’s Health.

I grew up in the local area and continue to live locally. I have two children and in my spare time I like to water-ski and swim.

Dr Koonal Prasad
General Physician

I thank this practice for welcoming me into the family.

My principal interests lie in being a Aesthetic/Cosmetic Physician and a Sports Physician. I believe that beauty and confidence need to radiate from the inner and outer self. Thus Cosmetic practice for me is an integral part of Holistic care in General Practice. However preventive and General Medicine will always be the cornerstone of how I practice.

I graduated with distinction in Medicine from the University of Notre Dame Australia in 2015. As a Junior Doctor, my focus was heavily on Surgical terms.Thereafter, I initiated and complete my General Practice Training under the RACGP successfully in 2020, while spending time as an unaccredited Orthopaedic trainee.

I currently am the managing Physician for the Canterbury Bulldogs Harold Mathews NRL team.

There was a life before Medicine for me, as I graduated from University of Sydney with a Bachelor of Orthoptics and practised in Ocular pathology management.

Away from Medicine,  I am an avid fan of the NRL, Cricket and all things Vehicles/Autostyling related. I also look forward to rekindling my love with my guitar. I am also learning to embrace the shire life with a passion!

I look forward to assisting you in achieving the best version of yourself.
